THE RHODY GETS A NEW SIGN

Locals always referred to The Rhododendron simply as “The Rhody”.  Somehow, this nickname always felt more familiar and welcoming to us.  To further this notion of good, simple food using local ingredients, we wanted a sign and logo that would be equally simple, welcoming and direct.  Something that suggested our strong devotion to fine cuisine, while also having a playful side.  Something that also marked an historical milestone in the life of this restaurant; a shift in owners, and a new approach to dining.

MEET THE OWNERS!

JimLisa

Jim Kowalski got his degree from the Culinary School of Art.  A native of Detroit, he made his way to the Pacific Northwest and was the founding chef behind the reknowned restaurant NIMBUS in Bellingham, WA. Within a few years he and his new partner Lisa bought the Farm To Market Bakery. They built it up from its already wonderful reputation to be a lovely bakery and sandwich shop as Edison became the unlikely culinary hub it is today. In the Fall of 2013 Jim and Lisa were again faced with another great opportunity, to take over Don and Carol Shanks Rhodedendrun Cafe. Now the cafe is a buzz with new flavors and the Farm To Market Bakery has settled into its new home next door where the Rhody Too gifts resided. Please join Jim and Lisa for a Polenta Cake and a cup of Joe in the morning and then for a glass of wine with some steamed mussels on the back patio. Arrevaderci!!
